3-Day Masai Mara Safari
The full day-by-day itinerary behind our most popular departure — including private and mid-range upgrade options.
Same reserve, same animals, smaller price. Group joining safaris with budget tented camps — honestly priced, with park fees included and nothing hidden.
A budget Masai Mara safari cuts cost in three places — and none of them is the wildlife. First, you share the vehicle: group joining departures fill a safari van or 4x4 with up to 7 travellers on the same itinerary, splitting the vehicle, fuel and guide cost. Second, you sleep outside the reserve gates: budget tented camps near Talek and Sekenani gates cost a fraction of lodges inside the reserve, yet you're minutes from the entrance for morning game drives. Third, you travel by road instead of flying from Wilson Airport.
What you don't give up: park entry to the same Maasai Mara National Reserve every luxury visitor drives, a professional driver-guide, full-board meals, and the same lion, elephant, cheetah and — in season — migration herds. The animals do not check your accommodation category.
A note on "too cheap" quotes: park fees alone are $100 per adult per day (January–June) or $200 (July–December). Any 3-day quote far below our starting prices is almost certainly excluding park fees, meals or transport — read the fine print, or ask us for an itemised comparison.
| Package | Low Season (Jan–Jun) | High Season (Jul–Dec) | Departures |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3-day group joining, budget camp | from $450 | from $650 | Most days from Nairobi |
| 4-day group joining, budget camp | from $560 | from $820 | Most days from Nairobi |
| 3-day private budget safari (2+ pax) | from $650 | from $850 | Any day, your schedule |
| 3-day group joining + Lake Nakuru add-on (4 days total) | from $700 | from $950 | Selected days |
Prices include shared transport from Nairobi, accommodation, full-board meals, game drives and park fees. Solo travellers can join without a single supplement on group departures (you share the vehicle, not a room — single rooms attract a small supplement in high season).
Choose budget group joining if you're happy to share a vehicle with other travellers, keep to a fixed departure schedule, and sleep simply but comfortably. It suits backpackers, students, solo travellers who enjoy company, and anyone who'd rather spend on an extra day in the reserve than on a plunge pool.
Consider upgrading if you want your own vehicle and flexible game-drive hours (private safari, from $650), you're travelling with young children, or you're marking a honeymoon or milestone — in which case see our mid-range and luxury options on the 3-day safari page or request a custom quote.
Tell us your dates and group size — we'll reply on WhatsApp with an itemised price and the exact camp you'd stay in.
